Doric #342

Brothers,

I hope you all are enjoying your summer, and even though we are dark, Doric Lodge is still active all summer long. Our summer started with another succesful Child ID event held during the Festival of the Arts in Downtown Grand Rapids. During this 3 day event, we processed over 800 children. Many thanks to Bros. Jon Duley and Rick Williams for their hard work in organizing the event, and to all of the brothers and families that gave their valuable time to man the event and make this a success. June also saw our annual Crawfish Boil, which was another resounding success. We served 120 lbs. of crawfish (and other goodies) to approximately 70 brothers, family and friends. This is a very fun event every year, and even if you are squeamish when it comes to crawfish, you should check it out next year for the fellowship!!

We have a couple of things lined up for July, starting with the Doric/Rockford Lodge Scholarship Golf Outing this Saturday the 17th at Scott Lake. Contact Brother Bill Crothers if you are interested in playing or sponsoring. Then we have the Doric Summer Picnic at Ada Park on July 24th, and a Habitat for Humaity build day on Saturday July 31. Look for e-vites for these events later today.

We also are working on a couple events for August, including the 3rd Annual Canoe Trip on the weekend of August 28th, a Brewing Session (to craft some home made beers ahead of our Octoberfest Dinner), on Thursday, August 19th.

If you have not had a chance to visit the Temple this summer, stop in and check on the progress of the 3rd Floor Lodge room. It is shaping up to be a supurb space that we can all be very proud of. I am being told that it will be ready for our September Regular, so please plan on attending that.
